Our Experience

We have grown this species of Ironweed (Vernonia) in our habitat for years but recently noticed this year that it has not done well due to being sun blocked by its much taller relative Vernonia gigantea (Giant Ironweed) and has been struggled to thrive. We’ll be planting new plants where they will be exposed to more sunlight.

Like other members of this species, once established it requires little to no care and thrives on neglect. Obviously it does like to receive a lot of sun.
