Kit vs. Workshop
Key Differences
Caterpillars are NOT included. You schedule your personal video conference workshop before or when you find caterpillars.
What's the idea?
Plant the host plant from the kit as soon as weather permits. If all goes well, a female butterfly will lay eggs on your host plant. When you find eggs or caterpillars, or before then, schedule your personal workshop to learn how to raise the caterpillars.
Why Offer kits?
We offer kits because of the unpredictable nature of when we will find caterpillars on our host plants within our habitat. There is a very short window of time in which we can advertise we're conducting a workshop. Also by selling kits we are able to offer more species of butterfly to experience hand-raising than with our regular workshop which is only for the Eastern Black Swallowtail.
Important Things to Know
- Raise only 1-2 caterpillars in the small cage
- The host plant must be planted to grow big enough to feed caterpillars
- There is no guarantee you will have a female lay eggs on your host plant. If you must have caterpillars our Raise a Caterpillar Workshop is the better choice for you
